Dr. Krishna Chandra Devkota is the Vice Chairperson of the Gandaki Province Policy and Planning Commission. His professional experience spans geoscience, disaster risk management, climate change, public policy, and development planning, with particular emphasis on linking disaster and climate risks with development policy, planning, and investment.

His career began with a strong foundation in geology and geohazards and subsequently expanded into disaster risk management, climate change adaptation, and development planning. His areas of experience include multi-hazard risk management, geohazards and landslide risks, floods and other water-related hazards, risk assessment, preparedness, and early warning systems.

His work on climate change includes the assessment of climate change impacts and risks, climate risk management, climate change adaptation, and climate-resilient development. He has also contributed to environmental assessment and reporting, including climate status and trend analysis, and to integrating climate risks and impacts into development policies and planning processes.

A central focus of Dr. Devkota's work is strengthening the connection between scientific and risk information and development decision-making. His experience includes integrating disaster and climate risk considerations into development planning and public investment to promote evidence-based, risk-informed, and resilient development.

He has also worked on policy and strategic issues related to climate finance and risk financing, including risk-informed development and investment, the effective mobilization of climate finance, and the mainstreaming of disaster and climate risks into public policy and development planning.

As Vice Chairperson of the Gandaki Province Policy and Planning Commission, Dr. Devkota contributes to strengthening evidence-based public policy and development planning and promoting risk-sensitive, climate-resilient, sustainable, inclusive, and balanced development in Gandaki Province.

His work and experience extend across Nepal and the wider Asia-Pacific region, including the Republic of Korea, Lao PDR, and Thailand, as well as engagement with regional and international initiatives on disaster risk management, climate change, and development. His interdisciplinary background connects scientific knowledge with disaster and climate risk management, public policy, development planning, and financing considerations in addressing complex development challenges.
